A Take Away Show with Salif Keita

[FR] Vincent Moon a longuement cherché l’endroit idéal pour accueillir ce monument de la musique africaine en duo acoustique, et après quelques errances dans les méandres brûlants de la vieille ville, il a choisi cette petite cour fraîche au charme décati. Dès les premières notes, sa caméra est comme hypnotisée par la puissance de cette voix à nulle autre pareille, et tournoie inlassablement autour de l’aura statufiée de Salif Keita. Au coeur d’Arles, donc, une grande glycine se transforme en arbre à palabre, et du Mali natal de ce grand Monsieur, ici accompagné par son guitariste Guimba Kouyaté, grâce à sa chanson « Tomorrow », nous parvient l’écho des joies toutes mandingues que créent les retrouvailles.

[ENG] Vincent Moon searched long and hard for the perfect place to welcome this monument of African music in acoustic duo form. After wandering through the scorching labyrinth of the old town, he chose a small, timeworn courtyard, cool and full of faded charm. From the very first notes, his camera seems hypnotized by the unmatched power of this voice — circling endlessly around the statuesque aura of Salif Keita. In the heart of Arles, then, a great wisteria becomes a palaver tree, and from the Malian homeland of this great man — here accompanied by his guitarist Guimba Kouyaté — comes the joyful echo of Mande reunions, carried through his song “Tomorrow.”
